Surgical Experience
WHEN YOU ARRIVE:
The business office staff will copy your insurance cards and have you sign the necessary paperwork.
A member of the nursing staff will then take you to your room.  You will be asked to put on a surgical gown.  The nurse will put you at ease and make you as comfortable as possible.
The nurse will then begin preparing you for surgery according to the procedure to be performed.
A member of the Anesthesia Department will visit you pre-operatively. They will review your health history and ask you questions.  At this time they will explain the type of anesthesia planned for you.  You will have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

The doctor will meet with an individual you designate, after surgery is complete, to explain how the surgery went and if there were any significant findings.

After your surgery is complete, you will stay at the surgical center until your pain is controlled and you are awake and stable. The nurse will give you instructions about caring for yourself after surgery, when to follow up with the doctor and explain medications that will be sent home with you.
You will need to have a responsible adult drive you home and remain with you for the first night.
